November 28, 2022 – What Does Freedom Look Like?

I am taking a look at some data from the Cato Institute of Freedom‘s index. There is a state by state comparison of many different categories to make up an ultimate ranking. I found the recent decline of own state very validating.

End Your Programming Routine: This is just the beginning for this journey. I don’t really need to make a move but I definitely want to . This gives me the time to do my due diligence before just making a leap. It is hard to say where this will truly lead but I need to spend some time if it is ever going to happen.

November 24, 2022 – Land of the Pilgrims Pride

This is a special episode that I only did because the subject was pilgrims. I got to thinking that they came here for a reason. This is the beginning of my succession to ‘Tacticool’ Thursday.

Now, of all of the colors and symbols on the ‘Pride‘ flag, I don’t see Pilgrims as one of them… people should be thankful that they broke the law between required church attendance and citizenship otherwise there would a lot more executions abound.

November 21, 2022 – Holiday Hate

Through the years, I have grown less enamored with Christmas much preferring Thanksgiving. I am not going to give away my podcast secrets here, you will have to listen to find out what is driving this.

The name of this podcast is inspired by George Orwell’s concept of ‘Hate Week’. This is whipping everyone up into moving into the same direction. I am getting everyone ready for the holiday season with this podcast.

End Your Programming Routine: I guess my desire is to change the course of my history. I just realized that the days my family will all be home is limited. We can go back to old traditions or start new ones or let things be the way they are. But, let us feel free to make them what we want and not feel trapped by life just passing us by.

November 14, 2022 – Post Election Additions and Analysis

After I did my last podcast, I did some more research on the local candidates and issues that were not documented in the voter’s guide. This week. I also do some analysis of election results.

Truthfully, I was hoping to see the political wave change. Not because it would make a difference in policy but delay the inevitable five to ten years. With all of the problems we have, I have no hope that we can actually change course, specifically in this state. I don’t have the energy or the resources to fight them all.

End Your Programming Routine: I voted like a good citizen. If you listen, you can hear the results of my effort. I think it is time to start exploring the concept of ‘Galt’s Gulch’ because the looters are fully in charge. They are just going to keep voting themselves more power, money and inventing new rights. Remember that we all belong to each other – I just don’t have anymore words.

November 7, 2022 – I Voted, Where is My Sticker?

Fifteen years ago, when podcasts first came out podcasters used to take risks. They would do things that were experiments. It may not have been all great in terms of audio, but it was real and I loved it. Podcasting is no where near what it used to be. Sure, it is more polished and there is a formula for success but I kind of miss those days.

Today, I am going through the Oregon Voter’s Guide. I guess you could say that this is one of those risks. I am comparing the guide to my ballot and offer techniques on how to analyze candidates and issues. This is a longer one because there is a lot of content to get through.

When I was re-listening to what I had said, I noticed a couple of errors. I used the term ‘status quo’ instead of ‘quorum’ erroneously. This is toward the end, talking about ballot measure 115.

End Your Programming Routine: After I finished recording, I did some more research into individuals paying for pro and con arguments. It didn’t take much effort at all to find information. I very well may talk about this again. But, vote or don’t vote; it is your right to do either.

October 31, 2022 – Zombie Hoards are on the Move

Happy Halloween. I thought we would intertwine so fun with some seriousness.

Every podcast I write the notes on the hosting source. I write a similar but more detailed post here. Then when things publish, I also push this out on MeWe with some marketing type comments. Something is not quite right because I should be doing this once rather than three different times. So, I am going to start thinking about ways to streamline this process a little better.

End Your Programming Routine: The programming here is that the Zombie Apocalyse is somehow different than an earthquake or flood. No one is ever going to be prepared for everything in a societal failure. So, we do the best we can and hope for the best.

October 24, 2022 – The Kitchen Counter Cooking School Followup

I found the book warranted more than a quick review. So, I decided to do a podcast as well. There is almost nothing more important to your health than what you put into your body. If you don’t know how to cook, you are going to be at the mercy of others. I also talk about my history of cooking and go a little deeper with my journey with food.

End Your Programming Routine: We are heavily programmed with food. We have memories tied to it, we are addicted to it and we need food in our lives. What we also need is knowledge base to make educated decisions for our relationship with food. If you are stuck in the food web, pick a few things to change. It may be that one of those build confidence to change others.

October 17, 2022 – Revisiting Hardware and Software

I knew that I wrote about this once. I looked it up and it was April 13, 2020. In that context, I was talking about spending money on things that accessorize my shop equipment rather than another tool. Today, I am taking about having experiences versus stuff primarily. I some ways, the two are closely related.

End Your Programming Routine: This is something that I battle with. I am stuck in the ‘how can I use this’ mentality of what would make this experience better the next time I do it. The challenge is tempering the exuberance of getting better with the reality of investing for future experiences.

October 10, 2022 – Table Topics and Misadventure

Ever do something that you know that you shouldn’t do but do it anyway? I did and I talk about it today. I also talk about what I do differently and how it has changed my life since. All the while, I continue to practice my delivery. If you are like me, there is help for us in terms of a support group.

End Your Programming Routine: I know that I am weak speaking impromptu. I think that I am pretty good when I am prepared. At least when it comes to structure and content but I also know that my delivery could certainly improve. I am going to do more ‘Table Topics’ in the future because I don’t ever want this forum to fall into a rut. That falls part and parcel with my initial vision of ‘polymath daily’.

October 3, 2022 – From Dependable to Dependant

This is a tough one. Once again I get personal on dealing with an aging parent that refuses to accept reality. This has cause a lot of hurt and anger and talking about this is one of my therapy techniques. I guess that I would say that podcasts are a better forum to get more personal, maybe this is not what you want? Well, it makes me feel better anyway. If you don’t like this line of content, then please suggest some other topics.

End Your Programming Routine: Maybe I should have studied philosophy instead of chemistry. I have come to appreciate the discipline of logic and reason when it comes to the these complicated and controversial topics. I don’t really appreciate being in the middle of it, but I hope that my insight today gives you comfort in your difficult situations. You are not alone.
