And… welcome to 2023. We are starting the year off by going back to basics by talking about planning. Not to mention, we are almost back to a normal schedule with a podcast on Tuesday. Listen today to learn how I plan to hit the ground running in the new year.

End Your Programming Routine: I have a cloud of tags when I am writing that show my top ten most commonly used tags in my blog. Planning makes that list. Despite that, I don’t remember the last time I wrote or talked about it. The new year is the perfect time to plan but so is any other time of year. The most important thing is to do it and then check up from time to time to see how you are doing.

December 29, 2022 – AltF4.co Year In Review

It’s that time again. We need to celebrate our success and condemn our failures. I talk about the things that I think are the highlights, places that didn’t go the way I expected and plans for next year.

End Your Programming Routine: I am a big believer in checking in the rear view mirror. You cant drive forward that way but you can sure see what you have run over. I suppose the goal for every content creator is to do more of what worked better, try hard to do what you plan or say and figure out what you are going to do next. That is what this is all about

December 22, 2022 – Festivus, For the Rest of Us

I’ve got a lot of problems with you people. This is my annual airing of grievances. Some of it is pretty serious and some of it was kind of light hearted. But, I like the tradition of Festivus and the airing of grievances. Get ready to get punched in the face if you are taking a stand against me, cause it is on. We will settle this with the feats of strength.

One correction for the OSU Beavers basketball. They won three games, not two. That was my fault for not researching my facts (including my own blog) before speaking. I still contend that this is the worst team in history due to the total number of losses.

End Your Programming Routine: Sometimes there is no changing the programming. Today, I am enjoying some old fashion bitching. That is part of the tradition of Festivus in the first place.

December 12, 2022 – My 2022 Christmas List

I admit, I am bad at this. It is not like I don’t have good ideas but I either I can’t execute or I don’t have time. I talk about the some today, so I will skip this. I guess the main reason that I did this podcast was to provide helpful information on gift buying before it is too late – from a decidedly male standpoint.

Ultimately, I feel like too many people Christmas shop to check the box. That is just as it is written shopping rather than gift giving. Like all things, the value is not in the doing but the intent. If your intent is to finish then you end up justifying to yourself your decisions. Those end up being disappointing gifts.

End Your Programming Routine: In these times, I wish that I was the kind of guy that was into this holiday. Some people think and plan long before the middle of December about how they want to approach things and what they are going to do. I am just not wired that way. Is is selfish. maybe. I don’t know, but I have to work with what I am.

December 5, 2022 – A Podcast About Nothing

It is sometimes the little things that move us from one thing to another. I walk through Black Friday to spending some time in the shop. I started work on my sofa table to ultimately hold my Hi-Fi system. This is the final piece in my office setup, but it is a big one.

End Your Programming Routine: Ultimately, we will see if I am right or feel the same way later in life. There a lot of philosophical choices I discuss in this episode. My biggest thing to battle is going to be maintaining progress. Unfortunately, this is a difficult time of year to really do that But, I need to keep pushing every day/week even if it is only 30 minutes a day.

November 28, 2022 – What Does Freedom Look Like?

I am taking a look at some data from the Cato Institute of Freedom‘s index. There is a state by state comparison of many different categories to make up an ultimate ranking. I found the recent decline of own state very validating.

End Your Programming Routine: This is just the beginning for this journey. I don’t really need to make a move but I definitely want to . This gives me the time to do my due diligence before just making a leap. It is hard to say where this will truly lead but I need to spend some time if it is ever going to happen.

November 24, 2022 – Land of the Pilgrims Pride

This is a special episode that I only did because the subject was pilgrims. I got to thinking that they came here for a reason. This is the beginning of my succession to ‘Tacticool’ Thursday.

Now, of all of the colors and symbols on the ‘Pride‘ flag, I don’t see Pilgrims as one of them… people should be thankful that they broke the law between required church attendance and citizenship otherwise there would a lot more executions abound.

November 21, 2022 – Holiday Hate

Through the years, I have grown less enamored with Christmas much preferring Thanksgiving. I am not going to give away my podcast secrets here, you will have to listen to find out what is driving this.

The name of this podcast is inspired by George Orwell’s concept of ‘Hate Week’. This is whipping everyone up into moving into the same direction. I am getting everyone ready for the holiday season with this podcast.

End Your Programming Routine: I guess my desire is to change the course of my history. I just realized that the days my family will all be home is limited. We can go back to old traditions or start new ones or let things be the way they are. But, let us feel free to make them what we want and not feel trapped by life just passing us by.

November 14, 2022 – Post Election Additions and Analysis

After I did my last podcast, I did some more research on the local candidates and issues that were not documented in the voter’s guide. This week. I also do some analysis of election results.

Truthfully, I was hoping to see the political wave change. Not because it would make a difference in policy but delay the inevitable five to ten years. With all of the problems we have, I have no hope that we can actually change course, specifically in this state. I don’t have the energy or the resources to fight them all.

End Your Programming Routine: I voted like a good citizen. If you listen, you can hear the results of my effort. I think it is time to start exploring the concept of ‘Galt’s Gulch’ because the looters are fully in charge. They are just going to keep voting themselves more power, money and inventing new rights. Remember that we all belong to each other – I just don’t have anymore words.

November 7, 2022 – I Voted, Where is My Sticker?

Fifteen years ago, when podcasts first came out podcasters used to take risks. They would do things that were experiments. It may not have been all great in terms of audio, but it was real and I loved it. Podcasting is no where near what it used to be. Sure, it is more polished and there is a formula for success but I kind of miss those days.

Today, I am going through the Oregon Voter’s Guide. I guess you could say that this is one of those risks. I am comparing the guide to my ballot and offer techniques on how to analyze candidates and issues. This is a longer one because there is a lot of content to get through.

When I was re-listening to what I had said, I noticed a couple of errors. I used the term ‘status quo’ instead of ‘quorum’ erroneously. This is toward the end, talking about ballot measure 115.

End Your Programming Routine: After I finished recording, I did some more research into individuals paying for pro and con arguments. It didn’t take much effort at all to find information. I very well may talk about this again. But, vote or don’t vote; it is your right to do either.
